The eco-friendly cases are something I just acknowledged today. I also notice a different shade of purple over the back of the label for the white logo label, which I have in one of my cases. Why didn't Nintendo stick to one shade for the colors? In the links listed by /u/btgreenone, the manuals packaged with the white logo are somewhat washed out in comparison. I don't know why some manual variants of have less detail in text on the back, or the colors look washed out. Yes, it appears so after further observations. The easiest thing to notice was the case itself, and how different it looked.Īpparently, that recyclable case may also be a new US release case. When I saw a sealed one for the same without the ESRB, maybe it was normal. The ESRB logo not appearing on the back is a bit strange to me, but then I'm not sure how many other games have a similar appearance. ![]() The only other thing that threw my off was the purple shade difference of the top border on the back of the case. I had originally thought that someone took the label from a red copy, and placed it within a generic Nintendo case. As for the case style, either someone just swapped the art into a black case, or it's a pack-in - see below." It could be authentic, but then why did Nintendo use a different shade of color (if it is?) It would seem to me that this extra case I have, may be using a copied label and a generic Nintendo case (judging by the color shade and recyclable case differences.) I'm not exactly sure on the manual. Great eyes on the details! Thank you very much for the added research. There's a "For display only" box, but no NFR boxes. Last note - the only "not for resale" Mario 64 DS's I've been able to turn up have been the cartridge. Here's a sealed 56270C in a black case: - this one is specifically listed as having been part of a bundle.Īnd here's a sealed four-pack of 56270C: As for the case style, either someone just swapped the art into a black case, or it's a pack-in - see below. Here's another one that has code 56270B - it has the white Nintendo logo on the front, but still has the ESRB logo on the back. This listing shows the same cover art as the "fake" one, with the 56270C code. I think the key is the code just to the right of the bar code on the back. ![]() Hopefully, it won't stop you from seeing the point.) (I rushed the areas I identified, so sorry if it looks sloppy. These days, it's harder to find.īelow is what I believe to be a set of FAKE versions of Super Mario 64 DS based on the case, manual, and label. Based on when I bought everything, that's not too bad of a price. I had spent $17 on an entire (so-called CIB) set, but I only wanted the authentic game included with it because I already had a case and everything. All I wanted to do was to buy the game to go with it. Back when I bought this other copy of Super Mario 64 DS, I already had a copy of (what I recognize as) the official case, manual, and other information available. I have just now noticed this strange difference. I never cared for this because again, I was only after the game at the time, so I just stashed the extras somewhere in my collection. (Now I know why.) I spotted something very odd that I can't find anywhere else now. In the second copy, I purchased it only for the game included because it was as cheap as buying the game alone. I haven't ended up checking my extra case or manual since the time I bought them for Super Mario 64 DS. We will ban on the first bannable offense without warning.
